The Cottage Wood Centre is a small community of Methodists who meet in a rural chapel situated between the villages of Plumpton and Calthwaite, north of Penrith. As well as holding services and events at special times of the year, the church now has a Silver Eco Church award and continues to promote activities which encourage everyone to care for the environment and local community.

Regular activities include 3Cs (coffee, chat and craft) meeting at 10.30 am on Wednesdays during term time. An afternoon tea (Take Tea Out) is provided on the second Thursday of most months from 1.30 pm. Booking required to eat in or request a take-away tea. A regular prayer time is set aside from 7-8 pm on the first Wednesday every month.
